If you haven’t been there already, do make a beeline to Jordan’s blog to congratulate her. She’s a really great person, and definitely deserves this success.
And if you haven’t already, consider making a beeline to see George Clooney’s “GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK”. In my humble opinion, a really excellent, thought-provoking movie with great performances, dashes of wit, and a sultry jazz score rendered by singer Dianne Reeves that’ll have you closing your eyes & swaying in your seat.
I’d seen enough archival footage of Murrow to admire him before this. But David Strathairn really brings him to life, acting as the man who landed one of the first killing blows against Senator Joseph McCarthy, and does it with the finesse of a fine swordsman, something sorely lacking in today’s ‘newsmen’.
Clooney deliberately downplays his good looks, but he doesn’t need them anyway. Frank Langella’s sexy voice is worth the price of admission. Real footage of McCarthy is chilling.
And if you come away thinking that this movie is some retrospective of the 1950s, go back and watch it again.
