Raine's Secret Garden

April’s End

I’ve always loved this time of year. It’s just so stunningly, absolutely gorgeous. The grass and leaves are near-neon green. The magnolias, my personal favorites for most beautiful flowering tree, are bursting with blooms, and the dogwoods are hot on their heels, white and pink chenille.

I’m watching birds choosing mates and building nests. My female deer are pregnant-plump. This year, as usual, I’ve got a pair of Mallards that vacation in the back yard for a while, then move on. And the air smells like moist, fertile earth.

What’s better than that??

So I’m sharing ONE of my favorite illustrations. I found this in an OMNI magazine many years ago, and I love it. It struck a chord with me (gee, I wonder why?)

The image is that of a STARFISH, who has dragged its poor primitive body to the top of a sandpile, where it waves frantically at the stars in the sky, as if to say, “Here! Here I am! See? I’m one of you! I’m a star too, and I’m just like you!!”

Wishing you tall piles of sand. :yesyesyes:
