First of all, I’d like to point out that May 4th was the 36th anniversary of the Kent State shootings.
I wasn’t there, but I did attend the school. The ghosts remain.
Lest we forget…
And for THIS day, I’d like to wish everyone a Happy Cinco de Mayo! :waving:
I’ve always heard that the trick to keeping the mind going is to keep learning. And I’ve learned a lot in the past couple of months.
On the verge of giving up the writing more than once, I’ve discovered that there are actually people out there who believe in me more than I believe in myself–some of them complete strangers.
This is both a good thing and a bad thing.
It’s sad when we can’t hold onto our own positive concepts of ourselves, when we let other people and discouragement and rejection deprive us of our own sense of self-worth or our belief in our own talents. Of course, it’s easy to SAY you won’t be affected, but quite another thing to stand true.
I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone—and you all know who you are, having been inundated with thank-yous—who has been kind and generous with their honesty, support, and appreciation for the writing.
You encourage me to keep swimming.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God…
