Several communities held their fireworks displays tonight.
I had to work, but I didn’t miss them at all.
Tonight was the night of the firefly.
I’ve blogged about this before, and tonight it happened again.
Hundreds upon HUNDREDS of them, filling the trees and bushes in my back yard. Apparently, they’re fond of heat and humidity, because this was the best showing this year!
I didn’t miss the scream of rockets, or the bright bursts of color.
The fireflies put any man-made display to shame.
Imagine a thousand tiny twinkling stars, hanging low in the night sky.
I sat in the dark and watched, entranced.
And in place of the loud, explosive booms, right now I’m enjoying the majestic rumbling of thunder with a mild storm to cleanse the air, and the sound of rain is the softest of lullabies with the sweetest of scents.
May you find magic in your own celebration. :yesyesyes:
