Raine's Secret Garden

AND THEN THERE WERE…

…TEN.

I’ve been taking part in Karin Tabke’s FIRST LINE Contest since the beginning, when there were 50 entries.

It has reminded me, for all the world, of Agatha Christie’s TEN LITTLE INDIANS (also known as AND THEN THERE WERE NONE). :poof:

This is a good thing, lol. I’ve always loved Christie. :yesyesyes:
The contest is now down to TEN entries. There will be five winners chosen from that.
And I don’t know if I’ll make the final cut, not even sure it matters. It’s been a blast to play along, and big thanks to Karin for the ride. :waving:

Last night (while writing, of course…), I watched two movies on television…
INTERNAL AFFAIRS, with Andy Garcia and Richard Gere. Good movie. I’ve always loved Garcia’s passion and sensitivity, and I respect Gere’s work both on and off the screen. And for those who haven’t noticed, Gere has a VERRA nice butt.

WAR OF THE WORLDS, the most recent installment, with Tom Cruise. I spoke about this when I first saw it at the theater, but it can’t be emphasized enough…

I’m watching Tom Cruise carry Dakota Fanning ( a healthy 11-year old at the time), just as I watched Ripley in ALIENS carry little Newt around…

People. PLEASE. Listen to me. When it’s definitely time to run…
PUT THE KID DOWN!!!!!

Trust me on this. I’ve never met a kid of that age who couldn’t outrun a 38-40 year old adult even on a slow day.
PUT THE KID DOWN.

If they want to live (and they do), they will run. If not—there’s always adoption.

I know it looks great if you’re going for dramatic effect, but trust me…
PUT THE KID DOWN.

Really. Think of it this way…
When that kid is 40, and you’re 75 or so, do you honestly believe that kid will stop, pick you up, and drag your ass as you slow them down?
They will leave you like a bad date on a frat’s free beer night.

So when the aliens/invaders/vampires/pod people come…PLEASE!
PUT THE KID DOWN.
