Chicas — Raine @ 4:27 am

Amie was kind enough to turn me on to this film—and she was absolutely right.
STRANGER THAN FICTION is fun. Strange. Quirky. Touching.
If you’re a writer, I think you’ll absolutely love it.
If you’re not, it’s still a wonderful movie.
And I must toss in one more plug for my very favorite movie of last year, THE ILLUSIONIST, now available on dvd, etc., etc.

If you haven’t seen this film…
TRUST ME.
SEE IT.
It’s one of the rare times I can practically guarantee you’ll love it.
On a small screen note—a new series debuts tonight. Starring Jeff Goldblum (a favorite actor of mine), it’s about a detective who uses his own ghostly hallucinations of victims to solve their murders.
And, most intriguing of all, the name of this new show is…
RAINES.
It’s Film Friday, and I’m dishing at the CHICA’S.

This beautiful lady, as I’m sure you know, is Ms. Halle Berry.
Ms. Berry, a stunning 40 years of age, is currently touring to promote her new film with Bruce Willis, “Perfect Stranger”.
And yeah, yeah I know, everyone is beautiful in their own way, etc., etc…
But when I heard one of the newsmen interviewing her happily announce that Halle “can still wear the jeans she wore in high school”…
That did it.
There’s something to be said for the old ways, y’know?
I think Halle should be burned at the stake.
I’ve got matches.
Who’s with me?

Nothing much happening on the home front here.
Bernita posted a wonderful bit about her experience with her own personal wolf pack (complete with painting by my favorite living artist, Robert Bateman).
Me? I’m at the CHICA’S site today.

Double-digit temperatures…check.
Snow piles from the last ice age slowly melting…check.
More sunshine…check.
Warmer breezes…check.
The robins and blackbirds have arrived…check.
Possibility of snow this weekend…check.
Yup. Spring must be on the way.
We even had a small tornado a few miles away this week. But I haven’t smelled the earth yet. You know, that deep, fertile scent, the one that sends your heart soaring? Seems we’re walking that fine line between seasons.
I’m walking the line at the CHICAS today.

I’ve never really based a character on a celebrity. It’s not my thing.
I may unconsciously pick up on a quirk, a hint of style, or borrow someone’s eyes or lips, etc. But a person’s complete appearance…no. It’s not my thing.
So far.
I think I may just have to make an exception in this case.
I am SO thinking about this guy as a soon-to-be character.
Maybe VERY soon.
Maybe in a very sensual romance.
Maybe with a too-hot-to-handle female character.
Maybe her name will be Raine.
There oughtta be SOME perks to writing romance.

There’s been a lot of great food flying around the blogs lately!
Ames has graciously posted one of her prize Southern Fried Chica Chicken recipes…
And May has come up with the Molten Chocolate Cake recipe!
Thank you, ladies! Good eatin’!
As for me…it’s not a new recipe, but I’m breaking up at the CHICAS today.
