Recently, in the midst of one of my frequent “self-examination” bouts, I decided I was taking life too seriously. Worrying. Waiting for the next shoe to drop. Even in the writing, I was just being SO grim.
“Raine,” I said, “you’ve got to get back to being looser. Enjoying the journey. Go with the flow.”
‘Kay.
And that’s exactly what I was doing this week on a dark, deserted road when the cop ticketed me for not making a ‘complete stop’ at a stopsign. I was comfortably in my seat, listening to some nice music–going with the flow. But the officer didn’t seem to believe me when I replied, “I DID stop. The sign says ‘stop’–not ‘park’.”
And I was nice and loose three days later when my doctor told me I had a sinus infection. Part of the trip, I told myself, and journeyed to the nearest pharmacy for meds.
And when I went to my dentist for what was supposed to be a small cavity yesterday, and wound up having oral surgery with a tooth removed and a double abcess drained, I was finally sure. No question about it.
Somewhere, the God of Serious was laughing his ass off.
But I’m still determined to flow, dammit!
Soon as I buckle up my boots and put on my wide-brimmed hat…
I’m blogging at the CHICA’S today.
Seriously.
P.S.
LeBron ROCKS!!
