I spotted my first fawn of the season this weekend.
Mom showed off her newborn out back, just as a quick late-spring shower passed through. I resisted the urge to run for the camera, and decided to just watch. She allowed the fawn to run—no, gambol—out in the open for a while before summoning it back to the tall grass.
I’ve watched this often in times past (one of the reasons I love my house), and it never fails to make me smile. Their sheer joy, their exhilaration at simply being alive is incredible.
How sad that we lose that as we get older and become preoccupied with our problems and the things we think we want. Remember the days of running just because it felt good, or rolling in the grass, or looking for grand designs in the clouds?
No, I’m not going to recommend that you ‘don’t worry be happy’, or run at top speed down the street (the cops are likely to give chase), or go out and splash in puddles of acid rain.
But maybe, whenever you get a chance, just take a moment to do a private little two-step, and check out the castles in the sky.

I’m going to dispense with the usual quicky I post here on Fridays, and ask if you’d follow the link to the CHICAS site instead.
I’m conducting an impromptu poll there, and would sincerely value any and all feedback.
No right answers, no wrong ones. Just opinions.

Now it gets REALLY interesting…

I finally got a chance to see the new Indiana Jones movie this weekend.
My opinion, without giving away any spoilers?
If you go to see the movie expecting the thrill of the original “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, you’ll probably be disappointed.
If you go with the idea of just seeing an entertaining movie, you’ll enjoy it.
I’m glad I went. And I gotta tell ya…
Indy can still park his bullwhip under my bed ANY day.
