I’ve been keeping a suspicious eye on the trees. I’ve spotted the occasional leaf here and there that looks a little gold in the afternoon sun, as if a change was in the air.
Twilight takes charge of the horizon much sooner than it did a mere two weeks ago, and the chipmunks are aggressively stuffing their little cheeks with fallen birdseed.
I took a few moments to sit in the shade and watch the sparrows play in the birdbath. They splashed around like children in a pool, thoroughly enjoying themselves. And to my surprise, a hummingbird flitted by, glittering green, almost too fast to see.
It reminded me of summer.
To those of you in the U.S.A., have a Happy Labor Day!
To everyone else…get out there and enjoy what’s left of the season!
