I have an intense dislike for arrogant men.
Now, I realize the world in general could give a crap less, lol—but there it is.
And apparently that dislike carries over into my reading preferences. I recently passed a romance novel on to a friend because I couldn’t stand to finish it.
I’m not talking confident. I’m not even talking a little cocky. Some men can carry that, and carry it well enough to make them seem sexy.
I’m talking A-R-R-O-G-A-N-T.
The hero of this novel was unbearable to me. I’m talking about the kind of guy who’d lay a kiss on you, and then smirk and say something like, “Bet you’re all primed to go now, hmmm, babe?”
Or the moment you seemed halfway receptive he’d murmur, “Oh yeah, you know you want it.”
Phffffttttt!!!!! XD
The only situations in which I could STAND such a “hero” would be if the story was meant to be humorous, or if I knew he was going to get his comeuppance (if I could tolerate him long enough to see it happen).
This book was by a well-known author, so apparently many readers aren’t bothered by such ‘attitude’.
And while I’m all for variety in heroes, I just found myself wanting to kick him in the balls. :ninja:
