For the fourth day of the TWELFTH NIGHT anthology, some chick named Raine Weaver has penned a free short story.
It’s called “Stroking Midnight”, and it’s the story of a young woman who, on the brink of a new year, decides to confront her personal demons.
Literally.
I’ve posted a very brief excerpt after the cut, and the complete short can be found in pdf form for reading or downloading HERE.

Here’s hoping everyone made it through the holiday without too much stress and had a wonderful Christmas!
Mine was fairly quiet, which was fine with me. I got a few nice gifts from nice people, visited family, and spent the rest of the evening relaxing.
Oddly enough, one of my most touching gifts was from a vendor who works the sidewalk at my job.
I’ve never bought from him, but we’ve often talked casually. On Christmas Eve he insisted on treating me to a meal with “the works” and a huge grin, and wouldn’t take no for an answer.
Because I’d always been nice to him, he said.
I was so moved. Because I know he only pulls in $40-$50 or so a day. And knowing he had so little to give made that giving all the more sweet.
Now. On a hotter note—
Thanks to evil geniuses Jackie Barbosa and Emma Petersen, and in honor of the 12 days of Christmas, 12 wicked authors have written 12 wicked free stories for a wicked good anthology called “TWELFTH NIGHT”. ![]()
After all twelve have been posted, they’ll be put together and offered in a free e-book.
Because of the holiday I’m a little late posting. The links for the first three stories can be found HERE. I’ll try to post a reminder note about each, but the rest of the offerings will be as follows:

And Amie was kind enough to repost The Little Match Girl on her blog.
But most importantly, I wish you all the love, joy, and sharing that comes with this wonderful season.
Merry Christmas everyone.
