I’m probably not what might be considered a “people person”.
I don’t think that’s unusual among folks who pursue creative arts. A lot of them spend more time than the norm living inside their heads, may have been introverted children, or have trouble communicating in one way or another (which may be one reason they take up the creative arts).
And we all stumble over our share of not-so-nice people on the path. Usually, it’s a learning experience. Occasionally, it’s nearly crippling. It’s so easy to categorize, label, and keep your guard up, not putting too much out and not letting too many in.
But once in a while, someone will say or do something unexpected, something so amazingly good-hearted, something that throws you completely for a loop because we become accustomed to not expecting it, that it reminds you there really are good people out there.
To that someone who reminded me of that this weekend–and the words always seem so inadequate–but…
THANK YOU.
I only hope I can pay it forward soon.
