With two wips going–one short, about finished, and the &*#!!@!! other one–I keep getting the feeling that I’m explaining too much.
It’s not so much an infodump as a severe slowing of the pace of the work while characters give a bit of insight. But the slowing is waaay too slow.
Being aware of it hasn’t helped a lot. When I read over for editing purposes, all I can seem to think is, “well, that seems necessary, and that, and that, and…” 
What really bothers me is that I don’t think I had this problem with my earlier work—and geez, I hope I’m not getting worse at this gig instead of better!
In the midst of it, I keep imagining the scenes from the film “Airplane”, when the Striker character tells his story to fellow passengers, and they become so bored and desperate they commit suicide, or wither and die, lol. 
Imagining that happening to a reader is horrible. But sometimes ya gotta find your giggles where you can.

Had a big blow-out with my supervisor at work today. A LOUD one.
And if this doesn’t sound like me, that’s because it’s not. I don’t do this. I NEVER do this.
But this woman has been picking everybody’s nits for weeks now, & today she picked the wrong one.
Yes, you sometimes get to assign work disproportionately, taking it easy on your favorites. Yes, you get to tell me what to do. Yes, in theory, you get to expect to have it done.
You do NOT, however, get to lie about me because you’ve made a mistake when YOUR boss happened to be in the office, and you don’t want him to think you’re not perfect.
Fortunately, I think we’re all pretty clear on that now.

Autumn is defintely in the air.
I’m already finding myself wanting to sleep more. I miss the early sunrises, the lingering blush at twilight. I’m unearthing my big, scented candles with the warm, comforting smells.
And the wolf spiders are starting to find ways to get in. {shudder}.
However, the cooler temperatures are great, and I’m a big fan of the moody, dramatic skies.
The only thing I DON’T like about fall is that it leads to winter—and makes me think about another year gone, and the fact that I didn’t accomplish everything I wanted to.

Truths For Mature Adults
1. I think part of a best friend’s job should be to
immediately clear your computer history if you die.
2. Nothing sucks more than that moment, during an argument,
when you realize you’re wrong.
3. I totally take back all those times I didn’t want to nap when I was
younger.
4. How the world are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
5. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on # 5.
I’m pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood. At least, I was yesterday.
6. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the
person died.
7. I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t at least kind of tired.
8. Bad decisions make good stories.
9. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don’t want to have to restart my collection…again.
10. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night, more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay.
11. How many times is it appropriate to say “What?” before you just nod and smile because you still didn’t hear, or understand a word they said?
12. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!
13. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey – but I’d bet everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time!
14. The first testicular guard, the “Cup,” was used in Hockey in 1874…and the first helmet was used in 1974. That means it only took 100 years for men to realize that their brain was also important.
