My last Samhain release, HOTTER THAN HELL, is now available in print.

Want a taste of Heaven? Go to Hell.

Legend has it that the Incubi were originally fallen angels, irresistible creatures who sacrificed their place in Paradise for the touch of mortal lovers. They live among us still, in the shadowy, dream-haunted fringes of modern society, indulging their insatiable lust and feeding on our desire—with our blessings.

The Rose Legacy
A valuable inheritance is passed from one female member of a wealthy family to another, as it has been for centuries. But Camille Price, the beneficiary, doesn’t know it’s a generational curse that includes sacrificing her body and soul to an Incubus who fulfills her every erotic dream—and nightmare.

Failed cleric Adam Bachmann knows a demon when he sees one. He just can’t seem to resist succubus Leyla Cheval, even though her insatiable sexual appetite is draining him of life. To save himself and others, he must sacrifice the only heaven he’s ever known and destroy the dark angel he’s come to love.

Too Much Hell?

Thanks to my gracious editor at Samhain, I’ve discovered my last e-release, “Hotter Than Hell”, will be available in print in a couple of weeks.

Yes, I probably should keep up with such matters, lol. But there’s an extended period between e-pubbing and print, and I usually make an effort to immerse myself in something else as soon as I finish a manuscript, so that’ll be my excuse.
I’ll post more about the release in days to come.

A few weeks ago, I received an e-mail from someone who’d contacted me on the internet. This virtual stranger had been kind enough to buy a download of HTH, and wrote me regarding their immediate reaction:

“I downloaded it last night on my kindle. I’m only about a chapter and a half in, and already I’m a little creeped out.”

I wasn’t sure whether I should say thank you or apologize.
(I did both).

When the book was released, I tried to make a gentle point of saying it could be considered a “dark romance”. It is. The demons are demonic, and no one emerges unscathed. The protagonists are flawed, fallen people, and the love affairs are not sweetness and light.
But there is romance, and humor, and a happily for now in both stories, which seemed appropriate to me.

After all—we’re dealing with demons. Who knows what fresh hell tomorrow might bring?

The Thriller

I watched Michael Jackson’s final production, “This Is It” tonight, and have a confession to make.
I remembered every single dance step of every single video he reinacted for that performance.

I may not remember where I leave my bloody car keys every day, but I remember those steps!
Sign of a true showman.

And speaking of zombies…

Lillie St. Claire, an expert on the subject, is joining us at the Chicas site today.
Please shamble on over!

Dark and Disorderly

I was standing there naked when my dead husband walked into my bathroom…

The wonderfully gifted Ms. Bernita Harris’ first book with Carina Press is now available!
:wootrock: :bounce: :wootrock: :bounce:

DARK AND DISORDERLY is being released today, as what I hope will be the first of many accounts of the adventures of Lillie St. Claire, paranormal expert and ghost-buster extraordinaire.

To celebrate the occasion, Bernita is having a launch party at Bitten by Books, and a grand announcement at her own site, here.

The book can be purchased HERE:

An excerpt can be found HERE:

And the blurb is below.
CONGRATULATIONS, Bernita, from one who’ll be proud to say she knew you when—and you were a kick-ass author all along.

Lillie St. Claire is a Talent, one of the rare few who can permanently dispatch the spirits of the dead that walk the earth. Her skills are in demand in a haunted country, where a plague of ghosts is becoming a civic nuisance. Those skills bring her into conflict with frightened citizens who view Talents as near-demons. Her husband has come to see her as a Freak; so when Nathan dies after a car crash, she is relieved to be free of his increasingly vicious presence. Lillie expects to be haunted by Nathan’s ghost, but not to become Suspect #1 for her husband’s murder and reanimation. But what’s most surprising of all is the growing attraction between her and psi-crime detective John Thresher. He thinks that Lillie killed Nathan—and Nathan must agree, because his zombie is seeking revenge. Now she and Thresher must work together to solve her husband’s murder—before his corpse kills her…

Without further bells or whistles, or the trumpeting of Fallen Angels—my HOTTER THAN HELL anthology has been released by Samhain Publishing.

One Incubus.
One Succubus.
Lots of heat, and plenty of hellraising.

I’ve posted excerpts following the break, or you can read them at the book’s site.
I hope you’ll enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed the writing. :D

The Denizens of “HELL”

I promise I’m not going to overdo this, lol—but with the release of “HOTTER THAN HELL” tomorrow, I’ve been thinking about some of the characters who live in the stories (the book is composed of two novellas).

One of the big considerations when I began writing this was, as always, to try to be true to the characters and storyline.

This book is not a ‘sweet’ romance. The heroine of The Rose Legacy is a recovering addict who believes money is the key to everything. The hero is of a different race, and may have been carrying on an affair with the heroine’s aunt. And the heroine’s aunt, far from being some snooty, middle-age busybody, is a beautiful, decadent woman with no morals whatsoever (I love this woman).

In Ravenous, succubus Leyla is every man’s wet dream—except for that pesky habit of draining them of life. The ladies’ man protagonist has failed at every endeavor in his life, including serving God, and remains consistent by becoming obsessed with a demoness, the one woman he can’t have.

There are no shrinking violets or dashing heroes or particularly noble causes in this book. That’s not to say I don’t write them, but those elements didn’t fit these stories. There is love, there is humor; but this is a virtual hell.
And paranormal elements or not, these characters are all very human.

I’d love to take credit for that, but that’s how they introduced themselves to me.
I hope you’ll enjoy meeting them as much I did. :)
